PROJECTS
We are here to help with beach sports equipment and amenities that help keep our San Diego beaches clean, beautiful and easily accessible to us and our visitors.

Our original projects started with maintaining the 14 beach volleyball courts and single basketball court at South Mission Beach. As we grow and more people are aware of who we are and what we do, we will work with the City of San Diego and our beach communities to support community master plans, beach clean ups, and raising money for community supported projects. Ultimately we hope to provide the best, well-maintained facilities for everyone to enjoy at the beach.

BEFORE: Our first officially community and city supported project: Renovate the basketball rims and backboard supports at the outdoor basketball court at South Mission Beach. The Project will cost $3800 and so far we have raised $2380. This project will be completed after Labor Day Weekend.

AFTER: Our Press Releas
Basketball players in South Mission Beach now have an upgraded place to practice their jump shot and play pickup games. Recently San Diego Beach Improvement Group (BIG) in association with Match Point Tennis Courts inc. and the City of San Diego closed down the courts for one day and installed new rims and replaced the support beams and
treated them with rust proof paint. They also touched up the paint on the posts and backboards. A crew of four worked all day on the project. I spoke with John Rupsic who coordinated the work and he said that the response from the beachgoers that day, once they got over the fact that they couldn’t play basketball, was overwhelmingly positive and that people were excited and could not wait to try out the new equipment. This project is just the most recent example of the work that San Diego BIG has been doing around the area to improve the local parks and beaches that we all enjoy so much.

CALLING ALL PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS: Mission Beach Women's Club has been working hard to coordinate with local artists to paint utility boxes in the Mission & Pacific Beach area. This prevents graffiti and tagging. New metal storage containers have been delivered to Belmont Park for the police department and we are currently recruiting professional artist to help paint this container in a beach theme. If you are a professional artist and would like to help with this project, please fill out the attached application and submit your beach-themed sketch to us.
