Featured Coach of the Month

BRUK VANDEWEGHE Vandeweghe grew up in one of America�s storied sports families, headed by Dr. Ernie Vandeweghe, a well-known sports doctor and orthopedic surgeon for the Lakers. In recent years, he has brought his athletic intensity to other forms of athletics, including training and coaching with Magic Johnson�s All-Stars and training with New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks. He has also individually trained numerous other professional athletes, including NBA players Michael Olowokandi and Shawn Marion, women�s tennis star Alexandra Stevenson and former NBA star Bill Walton�s three sons. BRUK'S TIPS FOR THE MONTH: 1. Set realistic goals: By this I mean short and long term goals. Any goal is realistic if you give it a time frame. Write your goals down on paper and put them somewhere private. 2. Find a workout partner: Working out has more benefit if you are consistent. 3. Flexibility, core strength, and having fun are key elements to sports. 4. "Hustle While You Wait": this is my favorite quote by Thomas Edison.

Bruk's story continued: Vandeweghe received an undergraduate degree in Marketing from San Diego State University while on a golf sponsorship. He later became a Collegiate All American playing volleyball for SDSU, a Bronze Medal winner at the Goodwill Games and a professional volleyball on the AVP Tour. Career highlights included winning the Italian Open and San Antonio Open in 1993 and teaming with the legendary Sinjin Smith.

Growing up, Bruk learned a great deal about what it takes to become an elite level athlete and sports businessman at the family dinner table that often included such legendary sports figures as Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor. It is this knowledge and passion for success that he brings to San Diego Beach Improvement Group. Currently, Bruk is the director of Sports Marketing for DISC Spine and Sports medical facility.
