Look around. We can all find ways to help our community be a better place. San Diego Beach Improvement Group focuses on the beach, especially sports equipment at South Mission Beach. It's easy to get involved, even for a day. See OUR PEOPLE to find out how you can be better at the beach.

Since 2002, we have raised $3-5K annually to maintain the beach sports equipment at South Mission Beach. We have over 800 people who have contributed or participated in our events and we are officially a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.

In 1997, a small group of beach volleyball enthusiast took the steps to create this beautiful sports facility at
South Mission Beach with 14 beach volleyball courts and a basketball court. Since 2002, our founder, Laura Hendrickson has been working with a variety of players, donors and sponsorts to maintain this sports facility.
We regularly paint the poles and purchase nets, hardward, lines and resurface the basketball court to make sure the courts are well-maintained and are ready and available for players throughout the year.

In 2007, these efforts became official as we obtained our non-profit 501(c)(3) status, so that all donations would be tax deductible.

Today, thousands of people come to South Mission Beach to learn, play and perfect their basketball or beach volleyball game, make friends and occassionally compete in an event.

We are currently building our board of directors and recruiting volunteers to help us maintain this awesome beach sports facility and create a strong foundation to give back to our community through beach volleyball, beach clean ups and other activities that allow people to get involved, spend the day at the beach giving back and making a difference.
