Beach volleyball is a sport that continues to grow in popularity among all age groups
and abilities. It’s a sport that challenges the mind and body, fosters team work and
comradery and keeps participants in great shape.
Activites Currently Offered:
SOUTH MISSION BEACH SPORTS PARK
South Mission Beach is home to 14 beach volleyball courts that are set up with nets
and lines on a 24/7 basis. Many people come to play on these courts and the level
ranges from novice to pro. The courts are set up on a first come first serve basis
except for permitted events/tournaments scheduled through San Diego Parks & Rec.
See
Events Calendar to register and more information.
Court etiquette is posted on the back of the poles, but in general players will set up
games as a group or go on an individual basis and call “ups” on the court of choice.
There are 7 women’s height courts and 7 men’s height courts. Coed players may play
on either height. Since the weather is so great in San Diego, these courts are used
year-round with peak season being from May through Labor Day Weekend. It’s a good
idea to get your court in the early morning on the weekends if you have a group and
want to play in a round robin format. Groups with more than 100 people are required
to get a permit from the city.
