In 2002, Laura Hendrickson, an avid beach volleyball player discovered this beach volleyball haven.
Having traveled to many locations throughout the US and abroad, it is unusual to have beach volleyball
poles with nets and lines already up and available for use. At the time, the nets were in need of some repair
and this was the beginning of San Diego Beach Improvement Group. In 2007, we became an official 501(c)(3) non profit organization.

Always wanting to find a good place to be a community servant, taking care of these beach volleyball courts was a great place to give back. As I discovered the history of the courts and the people involved, it's been a pleasure working with all the community supporters, beach volleyball and basketball enthusiasts, Parks & Rec and the City of San Diego to maintain this sports park. Bill Walton continues to support this sports park annually.

By maintaining these courts, we raise money through direct donations from the players as well as through our events – the King & Queen Beach Volleyball Celebration, a Silent Auction and the San Diego SIX-MAN Volleyball Fest. The money goes towards the purchase of nets, lines, cranks, paint, rims, resurfacing the basketball court and running the non profit. We have many local businesses as sponsors and we appreciate all the support!

We do consider other beach projects, so if you have any suggestions we'd love to hear about them.
